Virginia Series

The Virginia Series of paintings began after moving from California to Loudoun County, Virginia in 1975, painting in Leesburg and Waterford until 1977. Later, after a 2 year adventure in Saudi Arabia, a return to Virginia's Howardsville, in Albemarle County from 1979 to 1981 resulted in more drawings and paintings of this picturesque region. Brief periods in McLean, Purcellville, and Reston in 1984/85, 1987, and 1989, all (flying) job related moves, saw further development of this series of landscapes. After retirement in 2000, the most recent addition to the Virginia Series is work done at Louisville, 2004, with The Blue Ridge Mountains near Culpeper. This painting is from a 1985 drawing during a four month stay with family in Virginia. A number of drawings and several paintings were done at this time. The Nova Scotia painting, "Fog at Prospect Harbor" was painted here. The space had great light. I've always been pleased with the work done while at McLean.
