The return to Louisville - afternoon
This sequence of 17 images were taken during about an hour in mid afternoon on return to Louisville, December 22, 2008. We have always enjoyed the rolling hills along the Purchase Parkway between Dyersburg, Tennessee and Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. The selection of thumbnails below are off of one 2GB card of 120 or so images at 240 resolution setting raw. The light was just starting to become interesting when we ran out of film. Not the first time, nor the last. This series of images are similar to those viewed in the earlier folder "Road to El Dorado dec 21 -afternoon;" this time we are northeast bound so the angles are changed presenting a different look. Another quick word about sequence: since 124 images where shot in an hour's time, at 60 mph we traveled up the parkway about 60 miles. Some times miles will go by before a shot is taken, but sometimes exposures can occur just seconds apart. An example of seonds apart will be the last two images on the top thumbnail row below. They were shot with the camera's lens pressed against the forward windshield (to avoid relections and other hazards on the windshield being picked up during an exposure), about two breaths and then another exposure. Who knows, at 60 miles per hour and a couple of seconds apart, like number 2 and 3 image of the same red barn below, creates enough distance covered for maybe an even better picture as the angle rapidly changes. Ah, the magic of photography on the road.
