The Road to the Sun
We have been in the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana a number of times since our retirement from the airlines in 2000. With family in northern Idaho at the Canadian border, we have returned to this part of the Rockies a few times in the past ten years or so. This selection of photographs takes us through Glacier National Park the afternoon of June 13, 2005. Entering the Park at the West Entrance at West Glacier early in the morning, we were to hold until noon for the road to open just below Logan Pass where a rock slide closed the Road to the Sun during the night. Once on our way we had a magnificent drive, in and out of cloud, up and over Logan Pass dropping down to St Mary Lake and the town of St. Mary where we spent the night. The next morning was clear at dawn so I drove back up to the pass and returned to St. Mary 3 hours later with a selection of morning roadshots.
